Julie G. Pollock, APR relocated to Alaska in 2005 after 25 years living and working in New Mexico. She served as the first communications manager for the newly created Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico, an 89,000-acre historic ranch in northern New Mexico. In this position she was able to deepen her knowledge of public land management issues, ranching, hunting and outdoor recreation. Over the course of 12 years, Julie served in a variety of PR roles for PNM (Public Service Company of New Mexico), the state’s largest investor-owned gas and electric utility. Most recently, she worked as its PR manager for the wholesale energy business and power plant operations. As part of her adventure in energy, she’s traveled two miles underground in a coal mine and climbed a 200-foot wind turbine in a climbing harness. She’s served as a PNM company spokesperson, interacting daily with reporters and company management, and worked to inspire a demoralized work force as a senior editor in employee communications. Julie began her business career working for small, family-owned businesses. Her strengths include: communications strategy, speechwriting, crisis communications, media relations, employee communications, publications, shareholder communications, Web writing, marketing and more. In 2007, Julie formed Hilltop PR. She earned her accreditation in public relations in 1999 and currently serves as secretary of the Public Relations Society of America Alaska Chapter. Julie is also a public affairs volunteer with the American Red Cross Alaska Chapter. She is a Class Agent for her alma mater, Connecticut College, working on its annual fundraising campaign. She lives in Wasilla with husband Mark Pollock. back to Team page |
